Pediatric Practices of Northeastern Pennsylvania (PPNP) provides pediatric care to infants, children, adolescents, and young adults up to the age of 21 years. PPNP provides health care to a large geographic area; serving families not only in Wayne, Pike, and Lackawanna Counties but also bordering counties in New York and New Jersey.  We are committed to helping families through office and hospital based care, as well as working in the community.  PPNP provides expertise in the extensive range of pediatric care from growth and development, anticipatory guidance, and of course the full spectrum of illness.  Several of our physicians have additional expertise in dealing with allergy, asthma, attention deficit disorder, learning problems and child abuse.

For well child visits and most sick visits each provider will care for their own patients.  However, it is possible that due to emergencies or absence from the office, one of the other pediatricians, nurse practitioners, or physician assistants may see your child.  In the case of urgent visits the provider in the office or physician on call will see your child.

One of the pediatricians is always available nights and weekends for emergencies.  We ask that unless the medical situation is an absolute emergency you do not go to the hospital emergency room, but call us first.  The pediatrician on call will evaluate the situation, and determine if you should go to the E.R. or be seen in the office.  If you do go directly to the E.R. for a non-emergency without calling, care will usually be provided by the E.R. physician.  If a true medical emergency exists we will provide care as quickly as possible.

Our nursing staff is available for routine questions weekdays.  The best time to reach the nurse for routine questions is between 9 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.  If your child is ill, and you feel that he/she may need to be seen, you should call the office as early in the day as possible.  Although we do not schedule evening patients routinely, the physician on call in Honesdale sees patients who have emergent or urgent problems that may not represent a true emergency, but nevertheless for the sake of the child should not wait until the next day.  On weekends and holidays these guidelines still apply.  At times there may be a nurse helping the physician return phone calls.

APPOINTMENTS
In order to provide the best possible care to your child and give everyone personal attention, we see our patients by appointment.   For our office to run smoothly, we ask that you arrive on time for your appointment.  If you are unable to keep your appointment please notify us as far in advance as possible so other patients who may need to be seen can be accommodated.  Should you need care immediately and have been unable to reach our office to schedule an appointment, you may present to the office for an acute problem and you will be worked into our schedule.  A nurse will assess your child upon their arrival to determine if they need to be brought in immediately.  However if their need is not emergent, their wait time may be a little longer as we will need to work them in after patients who are already scheduled.

If you have a new baby you should call the office the day after your discharge from the hospital to schedule an appointment.  The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends a schedule of well child checkups and immunizations.

PPNP participates in most insurance plans and provides billing, insurance and referral assistance.  Our office fees are based upon the usual and customary fees for our area.  We do offer a sliding fee scale program for those patients who qualify.  Applications are available at all of our front desks and in the billing department in Honesdale.
