Policy on Allergy Injections (Immunotherapy)
Allergy injections prescribed by your allergist may be given in our office as a service and convenience to our regular patients. Patients who are visiting the area, such as summer campers, may also get their allergy injections in our office once they have a visit with one of our providers and are medically cleared to receive their allergy injections.
For safety sake we require that patients 1) not be ill or wheezing at the time they get their injection(s) and 2) that they wait a minimum of 20 minutes after receiving the injection(s) to insure that they do not have an adverse reaction to the injection(s). Additionally, a physician needs to be physically present in our office when a patient receives an allergy injection and for the 20 minute observation period following the injection, in case the patient has a serious adverse reaction.
