FAQs - Questions About Non-acute or Chronic Problems
Does your office take care of children with diabetes, asthma, seizures, CF and other chronic conditions or do you automatically send them to a specialist?
We provide general medical care for all children. Our practice feels that with the exception of Asthma most children with chronic conditions should be seen on a regular basis by a specialist to provide the best quality of care. We do coordinate care with these specialists and often act as their "eyes and ears" when traveling to the specialist’s office involves significant distance and inconvenience for patients and their families.
What specialists does your office recommend?
PPNP has 4 offices and cares for patients who live in Lackawanna, Monroe, Wayne, and Pike counties in Pennsylvania in addition to patients who live in New York and New Jersey. Depending on the specific problem or medical condition, and the patient's insurance coverage, we utilize a wide variety of local as well as more distant specialists. If you have a specific specialist you would like your child to see, please discuss this with your provider to see if we can accommodate your request. To see if a certain specialist participates with your insurance plan, it is best to contact your insurance company or the specialist's office directly.
How do I get a prescription refilled?
To refill a prescription please call the office and leave the following:
- Your child’s name
- His/her date of birth
- The name of the medication
- The telephone number of the pharmacy (if you want us to call it in to the pharmacy)

Most requests will be taken care of by 4 p.m. the next regular business day after you call. Routine prescription refills are not processed after hours or weekends when the office is closed.
