FAQs - Questions About Inpatient Hospital Care

If my child needs to be admitted to the hospital, which hospital would it be?
For most situations that require general pediatric inpatient care we admit our patients to Wayne Memorial Hospital in Honesdale, PA. If clinical or insurance situations make it more appropriate to do so, patients can be referred from our office or from Wayne Memorial Hospital to other pediatric facilities. Visit Wayne Memorial Hospital website at www.wmh.org

Can I bring my newborn baby to your office if I do not deliver at Wayne Memorial Hospital?
Certainly. If you have a new baby you should call the office the day after your discharge from the hospital to schedule an appointment, usually 1-2 weeks after discharge. We can see your newborn baby sooner if the physician caring for your newborn thinks it is necessary or if any problems arise once you are home.

Which pediatrician will take care of my baby if I deliver at another hospital (not Wayne Memorial Hospital)?
All hospitals have appropriately trained physicians on staff who care for patients whose regular doctor does not come to that particular hospital. These patients are referred to as "unassigned patients." Before or at discharge you should let that doctor know that you plan to bring your baby to our practice so that he/she can communicate the necessary medical information about your baby to us.
